Visit of representatives of Consulate general of Germany
On November, 14, 2013, Mrs. Katrin Werdermann, Deputy Consul General of the Federal Republic of Germany in St. Petersburg, and staff members from the consulate economic department have visited Petersburg-Vneshtrans terminal located in the Seaport of St. Petersburg. The guests were invited by Mrs. Tatiana Avdeeva, General director of WTN Spedition GmbH, and by Mr. Alexander Busko, General director of Petersburg-Vneshtrans. Some issues related to co-operation and joint activities were discussed at the meeting. Our guests had an opportunity to learn more about VTN companies operations. Visitors were provided with a conducted tour of the Petersburg-Vneshtrans terminal and warehouse premises to see first-hand the infrastructure and functionality of the terminal. Mrs. Natalia Kapkajewa, Head of the Port of Hamburg Marketing (HHM) Representative Office in St. Petersburg, took active part in all agenda items of the meeting.

Reception in Consulate general of the Netherlands
On November, 12, 2013, Mr. Alexander Kulikov, Deputy General Director of VTN-Agency, has taken part in reception in the Residence of the Consul general of the Netherlands in St. Petersburg. The meeting was devoted to the prospects of the ferry shipping line which should connect the Dutch port of Amsterdam with the Big port of St. Petersburg. List of participants of the event included representatives of manufacturers, logistics companies, customs brokers, representatives of seaports and terminals from Amsterdam and St. Petersburg, and new ferry line project developers - Port of Amsterdam, VCK Logistics and Finnlines.
The new transport route may offer a wide array of options for project cargoes and for supply chains of large manufacturers.
At the meeting Mr. Kulikov had a number of talks with industry professionals.

Meeting in Aschaffenburg
On November, 5, 2013 Mrs. Tatiana Avdeeva, General director of WTN Spedition GmbH, has taken part in Informative evening in Aschaffenburg organized by Hafen Hamburg Marketing e. V. Süd, Bayernhafen GmbH & Co. KG and IGS Schreiner. About one hundred representatives of large industrial, trade and logistics companies from Germany gathered together in “Aschaffenburg” palace. There were many issues discussed at the event including problems of largest European seaports as focal points for global freight traffic and challenges that logistics companies are facing to provide daily reliable services. Issues regarding to cooperation between manufacturers, shippers, warehouse operators, freight-forwarding agents and shipping companies were also among topics raised at the meeting. It was stressed the importance of flexible logistics solutions and achieving high service standards. With Mr. Steffen Rudkowsky, Siemens AG Senior Vice President, Head of Logistics, and who was one of the speakers at the event, Mrs Tatiana Avdeeva discussed some questions of mutual interest.

Contribution to the international humanitarian project
VTN companies - «Petersburg-Vneshtrans», WTN Spedition GmbH and «VTN-Agency» - have taken part in the «World of jobs» project. The project between Lohbrügge gymnasium from Hamburg and school N 72 from Saint Petersburg was supported by the Chamber of commerce of Hamburg. The pupils from Germany and Russia who visited VTN office, terminal and storage facilities in Saint Petersburg were able to learn more about logistics operations and jobs related to logistics industry.

The in-house soccer championship within Transport league framework
VTN people are taking part in soccer championship between logistics companies unified by Transport league. The first match that took place on September, 23, 2013 was with the Delta Shipping team. Vneshtrans team ended up the game with the score of 4 - 1 and started in the tournament with the convincing win. Alexander Sokolov, chief of section of the customs clearance department, scored all four goals and other team’s players and fans assisted much. So our people successfully play soccer the same way they do their jobs! We congratulate Vneshtrans team and wish more wins to come!

Customs brokerage services for Petrozavodskmash
VTN-Agency has provided customs clearance of the machine imported by Petrozavodskmash (the state corporation ROSATOM), one of the largest Russian machine-building enterprises. Weighing over 640 ton the bridge-type turning-and-boring machine with digital-program control is for application in the atomic industry of the Russian Federation.

A Health Day
On June, 12, 2013 VTN staff participated in the «Health Day» corporate event. Health Day action is becoming a regular event for our people. It took place in the countryside outside St.-Petersburg on the coast of Lembolovskoye lake. Participants enjoyed activities such as soccer, sport games and competition.

The delegation visiting Saint-Petersburg consisted of people from business community and public organizations of Bremen. For participants of the meeting it was a good opportunity to strengthen business ties and to discuss various questions of the Russian - German interaction.

“Perspectives of Russia and Germany as WTO’s members” conference
At the invitation of the Chamber of Commerce Hamburg and its Representation in St. Petersburg, WTN Spedition GmbH people have taken part in the conference “Perspectives of Russia and Germany as WTO’s members”. The event took place in St. Petersburg in the House of Scientists of the Russian Academy of Science on April, 22, 2013. Representatives of WTN Spedition submitted a report on “The meaning of Russia’s accession to the WTO for logistics companies – evidence from WTN Spedition GmbH”. The report was presented within the roundtable “The meaning of Russia’s accession to the WTO for businesses”.

Handling of oversized cargo
Neptune, company based in Irkutsk, turned to VTN-Agency for logistics services in St. Petersburg as in transit point for crushing and grading complex imported from abroad and destined to Irkutsk, Siberia region. VTN-Agency provided Neptune with freight forwarding services in the Sea port of St. Petersburg, customs clearance, and local delivery of oversized cargo from the Sea Port to terminal and warehouse facilities of Vneshtrans-Terminal. Nissan plant extension in St. Petersburg
In years 2013-2014 Nissan is planning to extend its car manufacturing facilities in St. Petersburg (Russia). VTN-Agency is expected to increase the scope of customs and logistics services provided to Nissan. Customs brokerage services would include, among others, obtaining Federal Customs Service (FCS) of the Russian Federation classification decisions on single HS codes (harmonized system codes).
